Kartoffeln Kloesse
German's from Russia recipe
Dad asked for this dish. Grandma Amelia used to talk about potatoes and dumplings (Kartoffeln Glase).... well lets try it.
Ingredients

White Potatoes |

salt |
3/4 tsp |
baking powder (opt) |

onion (diced) |
1/2 pint |
cream |
2 Tbls |
butter |
1 bunch |
green onions |
Preparation
-
Cube potatoes and boil in large kettle with a salt and water until almost done
- While the potatoes are boiling, mix the flour, eggs, salt and baking powder together. Add 1 Cup of water to make a medium batter.
- This makes the dumplings.
- Drop dumplings by 1/2 tablespoon into boiling potatoes. Cook until dumplings flot to top or are not doughy
- Drain & put in a serving bowl
- Dice 1 onion and brown in butter
- Add cream to desired consistency and heat until warm
- Pour over dumplings and potatoes & serve
- Optionally serve with diced green onion or toasted bread cubes on top
- Non-Creamed option:
Brown the onion in butter and add the potatoes and dumplings and cook until browned.
